Week Two's Assignment
Describing the Setting (student population, setting, course goal, and student needs )
I am an EFL instructor in Turkey. I teach university level courses. I mostly teach speaking (oral communication skills) and writing. I enjoy teaching both of these subjects.
In my classes, I usually have around 30-35 students. They are mostly upper-intermediate level EFL learners with limited productive skills. They take a prior written proficiency test to be admitted to the program where I teach. Their reading and grammar skills are quite good however they lack proficiency in speaking and writing.
My main motivation is helping my students obtain these productive skills during regular class hours. I try to use communicative method while teaching these courses. I use authentic materials as much as possible. Also in speaking it follow a flexible task-based curriculum. I try to use technology as well.
My students will use English in their prospective professions after graduation. Due to this fact, they will need to communicative in English.
